Kumud Gandhi, Co-Founder & Nutritional Food Scientist

Graduating from the London School of Economics, Kumud began her career in the city of London financial world at the Bank of England, where she was Head of International Investment Markets. Following a meteoric rise to the top of her career Kumud suffered significant burnout out and took a break from banking to reenergise, rest and recover.

In 2001, Kumud followed her instinct and her family heritage in the science of food, shifting gears to study Food Science at The London Food Centre. Pursuing her thirst for knowledge to understand the how to live well in a modern world she retrained in Food Science and then followed on to earn a Masters in Functional Medicine and Nutrition from King’s College, London.

In 2010, Kumud founded The Cooking Academy, an International, award winning, cookery school where she and her team of highly trained chefs, food scientists and nutritionists have provided corporate team building, cookery workshops, wellness services and nutritional coaching to organisations and individuals.

In more recent years with the increasing importance of supporting immunity, the gut and holistic health through healthy lifestyle behaviours, Kumud and her team have shared their passion for promoting health through the science of nutrition by developing nutrition centric, employee engagement and development programmes and presenting workshops, demonstrations and keynote events for large, global companies to improve employee productivity, engagement to increase staff retention and productivity, whilst reducing sickness related absence.

‘Your Work Wellness’ has naturally evolved from The Cooking Academy and offers a bespoke and consultative approach to help organisations to support employees with their physical, mental and emotional health using our 5 Elements of Your Work Wellness. Dedicated to educating and inspiring others to live healthier, more balanced lives and an advocate of a preventative approach to managing health, Kumud believed that optimal nutrition and wellness are a business imperative and should be a strategic investment for companies.

Kumud enjoys fell walking, practises yoga and of course a very keen cook who likes to share her creations with her extended family.

Ian Bannister, Managing Director & Co-Founder

Ian is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Member of the Institute of Directors with over 30 years’ experience of managing teams and leading companies through technical change in highly regulated industries, including nuclear operations and commissioning, medical, defence, security and aerospace.

Ian’s deep rooted and heartfelt mantra is ‘you are only as good as your team’ and whatever the challenge, his leadership style is focused on the support and wellbeing of his workforce to engage and energise them. Having led teams in a variety of industries, he recognises that building happy and productive teams, retaining staff and building loyalty is paramount to fostering innovation and maintaining a competitive advantage.

Ian joined The Cooking Academy in 2015 as a non-executive director supporting operations and financial management of the business. His thorough understanding of the fundamental needs of employees in an ever changing and complex corporate landscape shone through from the start and Ian has been instrumental in developing and founding ‘Your Work Wellness’.

A keen sportsman playing county standard squash for the last 35 years, Ian has recently taken to the slower pace of golf. He loves the outdoors and is often found in Scotland salmon fishing or walking in the highlands. Ian loves music playing both the guitar and piano and has two sons.
